Paper and Leaves in the Hands of Donna Karan

Donna Karan creates alluring, sophisticated and feminine gowns. Her Spring 2011 collection presented at NY Fashion Week was splashed in gold in all its glory, in mute or shine. Let's play a little game: one of these designs is made of paper and leaves from a special sustainable fashion project and the other is from next year's collection. Can you tell which is which?

Ah... the captions give it away but anyway, isn't the dress in the bottom pic stunning, especially considering she made it from a relatively limited choice of fabric? Stumbled upon this in an archive from her contribution at the 2008 FutureFashion show. Here's a closer look.

Since we're at it, I might as well include this glistening number made from hemp and silk by Versace from the same show.

"This is the only trend in my fashion career where I can say with absolute confidence, it is not going away. " Julie Gilhart, fashion director of Barneys New York.
